Nvidia
Odd opening. Why in the hell would the guy not be buying Nvidia?
Look… I started investing when I was young - chucking the Irving Daily News paper route in 6th grade and taking my money to buy a 1oz. Krugerrand - after goading my dad into helping me buy a 1oz. Krugerrand.
After that, I’d grab the Dallas Morning News every day, find the Business Section, and check the price of gold. I think at one point I was graphing the prices on graph paper and studying my chart during math class… “dammit, gold is feeling some pressure over these past 3 days and I cannot remember how to tabulate the radius of a circle…”
In my many years henceforth, I’ve learned many, many lessons on investing, and one of the most important lessons I have learned is this: when the CEO of a tech company shows up at a conference and starts signing boobs, things may be getting a bit frenzied & frothy!
Jensen Huang, just what are you doing sir?
Now… I know what you’re saying, “El Toddro. Sir. Nvidia NVDA 0.00%↑ has doubled in the past year. It’s up 600% over the past 2 years… Of course this girl wants her boob signed by the CEO…” That’s fine… More power to both her and her boob. I’m sticking to my plan - diversification…
A few folks have asked me about buying Nvidia stock, and while it looks tempting and may well continue its meteoric trend, I am content to enjoy Nvidia’s push in the S&P500 SPY 0.00%↑ and/or the NASDAQ 100 QQQM 0.00%↑ Nvidia may well double again in 2025, but it sure feels like there are a lot of people piling onto this boobie bandwagon.
I will not be buying Nvidia as a single stock in 2025 - nor will I be getting my boob signed.
Hawkcoin
So beyond boob signing, a redneck girl gets drunk on Broadway in Nashville, decides to start telling a “man on the street” reporter about some kind of “hawk tuah” bedroom/backseat move she has perfected, and the next thing you know we have the crypto equivalent of a 1988 Chain Letter in the form of “Hawkcoin”. Are you keeping up with me here?
Oh wait, and people lost money on this deal? It appears it was a massive rug-pull scam where insiders pocketed a lot of cash and the retail buyers of the “Hawkcoin” (I can’t even type that without laughing) were left with worthless drivel in their account.
Color me surprised... But the saga continues… In the middle of a subsequent X Spaces call where she was trying to explain the debacle - and save what little reputation that was not the gutter of Broadway - she interrupted a well-known crypto expert on the call in mid-sentence to announce, “Anyhoo, I’m going to go to bed, and I’ll see you guys tomorrow,” and walked…
She has not been heard from since… Hilarious!
I will not be buying Hawkcoin, Fartcoin, Dogecoin, Trumpcoin, Melaniacoin, or any other coin generated by cultural memes - or saliva-based attack moves on the schmekel.
Erexon Gel
I promise, there is not a theme here…
I took a look at Futura Medical PLC , makers of a new FDA-approved OTC "erection gel", after reading an ad online about this exciting new advancement in boner technology.
Look… every other ad on tv is for boner pills, and every other ad on radio is for the local boner clinic. I thought maybe this stock would rise if guys got excited about an OTC product.
The gel is call Erexon - and upon researching I found the (only) ingredients are: alcohol, aqua, glycerin, propylene glycol, carbomer, and potassium hydroxide
This is hand sanitizer!!! For $26/tube!!! Just go buy some Purrell to rub on your weiner and see what happens!
There is no "active ingredient" in this stuff - there is nothing for the FDA to approve!
No way... not buying Erexon and not buying $FAMDF
Costco Gold
Costco is selling gold faster than soccer moms can clean out their free food samples. What are people doing with all this bullion? Costco has now had to limit purchases to five 1oz. bars per membership per day.
Look, owning gold is fine, but retail gold transactions give me the heebie-jeebies. I’ll stick with something that’s a bit more liquid, a bit more easily managed, and free of the theft risk posed by the homeless guy in the parking lot pissing on the tires of my mini-van. I have a favorite ETF where I buy gold…
ESG Funds
Folks, be wary. Is your company steering your 401k investment choices into ESG-driven investment products? These products use Environmental, Social, and Governance framework to evaluate their investment decisions - no longer working as a fiduciary on your behalf, but using YOUR MONEY to push political agendas over investment returns.
I have not bought into ESG, and I will not be buying ESG in 2025. Nor should you, though I am hearing more and more of companies locking their employees into ESG options in their employee plans. Be very wary.
Anonymous Sources
Have you noticed the ungodly number of news stories these days that are based upon “anonymous sources”? Used to be, in respectable journalistic entities, going with an anonymous source had to be very carefully considered, all options weighed, and it would require top-brass meetings to ok its publication. The reputation of the newspaper, magazine, reporter, editor, and all involved had to be weighed very carefully against an anonymous source
Now, anonymous sources are everyday news. It takes all the gravitas out of reporting. It’s too easy. It’s too convenient. And now, news entities use “anonymous sources” as a means to push their own agendas without getting their hands dirty. It’s like a wink-wink-nod-nod to their readers…
This is not unlike the anonymous knuckleheads on X that just clutter the airwaves and take up bandwidth. If you’ve got something to say, put your name on it. Sign it and deliver it, or sit down and shut up. I am no longer buying Anonymous Sources.
